Museum Of Christian Art, Goa
Set up in 1994, this museum is the first museum of Christian art in Asia, initially located in Seminary of Rachol, Salcette, Goa. Relocated in Convent of Santa Monica, Old Goa, it is a must visit for art lovers as it beautifully showcases treasures adorning the different Portuguese built churches in Goa.
The museum showcases the richness of Indo-Portuguese Christian Art from Goa, highlighting a part of Goa’s heritage that was neglected and would have been lost if not preserved. It houses the wealth found in the various churches built by the Portuguese in Goa along with some of the donations by private families. The museum has a spectacular collection of gold items, precious stones, rosaries and ivory images.
