Goa Museums
In 1973 Archeology & Museum unit was set up in the Department of Archives in Goa and thereafter a small Museum was opened for public on 29th Sept 1977 in a rented building at St. Inez. After construction of the present building the museum was shifted to this new museum complex at Patto which was inaugurated by the President of India on 18th June 1996.
The museum at present has the collection of about 8000 objects, which includes Stone Sculptures, Wooden objects, Bronzes, Paintings, Manuscripts, numismatic collection, anthropological objects, clay models etc.
Museum Week is celebrated every year in the second week of January, during which various programmes are arranged including display of new collection.There are also other programmes organized during the year as
